Health Tip 2 - Test Skin Sensitivity

Please read this link before applying any
tips.

TEST SKIN SENSITIVITY

Contributed by Dr. Rajeev Tilak,
Malad West.

Sensitive skin is a common
problem nowadays with bad nutrition and pollution being the primary causes. If
you have a sensitive skin then you immediately realize the problem since you
tend to react to most of the skin care preparations. Your skin reacts to
sunlight, parlor facials/waxing/massages, soaps, perfumes, etc. Occasionally
your skin may feel tight or irritated even without applying anything.

Therefore it is advisable to do a
small self-test before using any product. For example, let us assume you have
purchased a new skin-care face cream. To test it, first, wash your forearm with
plain soap and water. Dry the part and then apply some cream on the forearm and
gently rub it on the skin. Wait for at least 8-12 hours to find out if your
skin reacts to the product. You can apply it at night and check your skin in
the morning. If there is no reaction, the next step is to apply it on one cheek
- just a small spot on the face. Again apply it at night and check the next
morning. Once you are convinced that your face is not flaring up due the cream
it can be used as per the instructions. This holds true for any face or body
cream, ointment, lotion, or gel.

It is better to consult a doctor
for sensitive skin since conditions like dermatitis, thyroid disorders,
diabetes may present initially in the form of skin problems.
