PRAYER: THE SILENT FORCE

“When the mind is in turmoil
That even a smile provokes an ache in the chest
A sincere prayer is all you need
To put the storm to rest.”

What is a prayer?

Is it a form of worship? Is it a communication with God? Is it a petition to God? Is it a ritual you do not knowing for what, just because you are asked to do it by your family?

Would it be prudent to say it is a very personal way of expressing gratitude and asking for blessings? The ritual may vary according to country, religion and family, but the core is the same. The feeling of being in presence of God is a reward by itself. Man’s desires have no end; asking for name, fame, money and health will always be the basic urge to pray, but the thankfulness and gratitude if not present make it more of a business deal rather than a prayer. You may celebrate Thanksgiving for a day, but you need to do it everyday.

If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness.  It will change your life mightily -Gerald Good

Prayer is a very powerful force. Thousands of devotees visiting temples, churches and mosques is not a superstition, it is a sign of re-inventing ourselves as humans; at least I consider it that way. Whatever is the feeling, so is the blessing. God is not interested in what is served to Him by hand; He wants to know what is served by heart. The prayer from such a heart is accepted.

You may not believe in God. But believing in all that is good is believing in God. It is like eating sugar and saying I do not eat anything sweet. You can’t separate the two, can you? You cannot say I like bitter sugar or sour sugar or spicy sugar. Sugar is always associated with sweet. God is always associated with all that is good, pure, and inspiring.

Prayer is one of the best anti-stress measures. It releases endorphins in the body, which fight stress. Some skeptics may say that prayer is a convenient way to fulfill our greed or cover our sins or neglect our duty, but like I said if that is their feeling then that is what they will experience. We need to be grateful about everything we have since we tend to take things for granted too easily. Prayer involves love, faith and respect. Emotions are involved; it is not a brain exercise. It is not how brilliantly you have framed a sentence; it is how earnestly you have meant what you said. Helping others is also a form of prayer. Not harming others is also a form of prayer. Anything you do that puts you in contact with divinity is prayer.

Pray!!! It heals. It works. It helps.

God Bless All.
