Probiotics

Probiotics are the gut-friendly bacteria present in our digestive tract.

They have some role in immunity and digestion.

They inhibit the growth of disease-causing bacteria.

They help in the digestion of lactose and dairy products.

They improve absorption of nutrients.

They help in manufacturing B-complex vitamins.

Probiotic can be used if you get diarrhea after taking antibiotics.

The common strains are:

Lactobacillus acidophilus

Lactobacillus sporogens

Lactobacillus bulgaricus

Bifidobacteria bifidum

Streptococcus thermophilus and many more.

In short, probiotics cause improved immunity, digestion and resistance to disease.

Here is a You Tube video giving a small description of probiotic bacteria.
