HONEY WITH ANTIBIOTICS: AN AFTERTHOUGHT.

It was shocking to read that honey is contaminated with antibiotics. It was quite concerning since honey was supposedly one of the few foods left given by nature untouched by contamination. Mothers especially were worried since turmeric with honey was a routine cold-cough home remedy. Adults were worried since many were on the famous honey-with-lemon or honey-with-cinnamon therapy for multitude of illnesses. (It seems to work; I am not against it.)

Since we were ignorant of the above fact, when the news struck it caused ripples in our mind. But are we concerned about the presence of chemicals in our fruits, vegetables, soft-drinks (according to newspapers again), cosmetics (chemicals having an impact on health), household detergents, etc. We have accepted their presence in these things and knowingly/unknowingly, readily/helplessly continued to use them.

We can stop eating honey because we have a choice not to use it. But can we stop eating fruits and vegetables? The cosmetic industry is one of the most booming businesses in the present scenario. I read somewhere that skin is one of the most active organs of the human body. What is not fit to be eaten is not fit to be applied since skin can absorb a lot of pollutants. Where does this statement lead us with the variety of skin cosmetics available to me in the market today? Should I use them or not? There are lots of such questions left to be answered.

I am confused!!!!!

I am not justifying or defending the presence of antibiotics in honey. But it is only the tip of the iceberg……………….

Wishing you all health and happiness.
